Self-Determination

We believe that individuals and their families should be the primary decision makers in the management of their lives, pursue what is important to them and have a meaningful role in the community. This includes that individuals have control over the set amount of funding used to obtain the supports they need, have support to organize resources in ways that are life-enhancing, and have a circle of supports made up of family, friends, and both paid and natural supports. We also believe that individuals should be recognized for who they are and what they can contribute; having a leadership role in developing policies that affect their lives and helping others reach success.

Person-Centeredness

We promote the belief that people with developmental disabilities are people first. We use a person-centered planning process to discover what is truly important to and about a person and what talents and skills that individual possesses. This on-going process is values-based and focuses on a positive vision for the future of the person based on his/her strengths, preferences and capacities for acquiring new skills and abilities. We also believe that service coordination is the accepted format for the provision of needed support and services.

About THE FOUNDER

Known for her optimistic, humble, and empathetic nature, it was Symone’s unwavering drive to provide, learn, teach, inspire, love, and grow that fueled her quest to aid others. As the CEO of Wilson Estate Home Health Care, Symone remains committed to providing top-quality care to those in need. Her leadership style is rooted in a deep sense of empathy and compassion, and she is dedicated to creating a positive and inclusive workplace culture for her team. Through her leadership, Symone hopes to inspire others to pursue their passions and make a meaningful impact in the world.

PROFESSIONAL Experience

2010: Opened in-home childcare business providing care for families and children on the west side of Cincinnati.

2011: Became an independent provider through the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) and the State of Ohio, caring for people with developmental disabilities in numerous counties in Ohio and the surrounding areas.

Currently: Continues to work as a teacher and childcare provider, while also serving as an executive board member of the AFSME Council 8 Local 4023 Union.
